NOTE: questo CD ha due diverse emissioni, su etichette differenti ma con il medesimo contenuto.
Le canzoni provengono da due diverse apparizioni del 26 gennaio e del 23 febbraio 1970 ed il materiale è davvero molto interessante con rarità quali "True love travels on a gravel road" (unica versione dal vivo esistente) e due "Kentucky rain", tanto per fare solo un paio di esempi.
Pur essendo una registrazione soundboard, l'audio non è dei migliori in quanto soffre di forti distorsioni.
Il CD della Cupido è stato pubblicato nel formato cardboard sleeve (cartoncino).
Il concerto completo del 26 gennaio con audio notevolmente migliore, è disponibile nel CD bootleg della Madison del 2008 "Opening night-January 1970".
Sempre la grande label Madison nel 2007 pubblicherà in forma completa e con resa sonora migliorata lo spettacolo del 23 febbraio nel CD "Closing night-February 1970".

Il pezzo forte è il midnight show del 22 marzo 1975 a Las Vegas con Elvis in forma splendida ed una tracklist davvero succulenta !
Altro discorso per l'esibizione di College Park del 28 settembre 1974 dove Elvis era davvero in brutte condizioni. Questo fu un preludio ai mesi di stop di fine 1974 per cause di salute. Lo rivedremo, come ho accennato in precedenza, in splendida forma, nel marzo 1975.
Il primo CD riporta un grande spettacolo al Sahara Tahoe Hotel delle 3 di notte (!!!) del 27 maggio 1974; il terzo ci fa tuffare a Dayton, Ohio, 6 ottobre 1974 dove Elvis sta un po' meglio rispetto a College Park anche se non si tratta di nulla di memorabile.

NOTE: altro eccellente CD della grande Bilko che ci offre 19 canzoni tratte dalle mitiche recording sessions degli American Sound Studios di Memphis, gennaio/febbraio 1969.
La grafica è bellissima con due foto nella front e nella back cover tratte dal film “The trouble with girls [and how to get into it]” ed il CD è corredato da altre candids molto rare, una su tutte quella scattata con Mahalia Jackson sul set di “Change of habit”.
A rendere ancora più bello il progetto sono le note sulle canzoni che troviamo all’interno.
Una segnalazione: la take 3 di "In the ghetto", solo Elvis, la chitarra e pochissime percussioni, è a dir poco sublime !!!

NOTE: questo CD riporta lo spettacolo del 19 giugno 1977 di Omaha (parzialmente usato per "Elvis in concert"). La resa sonora è buona in quanto si tratta di un soundboard ma non perfetta in quanto presenta distorsioni che, comunque, non pregiudicano certo l'ascolto. Peccato solo che Elvis non sia assolutamente in forma. La RCA, infatti, userà per lo special televisivo trasmesso poi il 3 ottobre dello stesso anno, solo "Fairytale", "Little Sister", "How Great Thou Art", "Teddy bear/Don't be cruel", "And I love you so" e "Can't Help Falling In Love".
Lo stesso spettacolo sarà poi riproposto nel CD "Candid Elvis on camera" nel 1998 in qualità leggermente migliorata.

Esatto. Ed è per questo che, nonostante tutto, amo l'Elvis del 1977: aveva un cuore immenso ! Ricordo ancora la prima volta che vidi, nel 1990, il clip di "Unchained melody" tratto da "The Great Performances"... Non mi vergogno a dire che mi commossi: Elvis era allo stremo ma a Rapid City ce la mise davvero tutta, forse per rifarsi del concerto di Omaha di 2 giorni prima. Quando la sua voce raggiunge certe tonalità in questo pezzo dove lui stesso si accompagna, grondante di sudore, al pianoforte, non si può non ammirare quest'uomo che fino alla fine si è donato al suo pubblico !
Penso davvero che un altro cantante così non esisterà più, almeno sotto questo punto di vista !

Hai perfettamente ragione.Ricordo che mi feci regalare l'album ELVIS IN CONCERT a Natale...del 1977...ero un bambino,ma mi legai profondamente,e per sempre,all'Elvis dell'ultimo periodo.

Questo CD ci offre numerosissime takes di 4 brani registrati agli inizi del 1957 in binaurale, l'antenato dello stereo: in un canale veniva incisa la voce di Elvis mentre nell'altro gli strumenti.
Tutte le takes non sono state editate al fine di offrire una reale panoramica su come lavorava Elvis in studio.
Davvero molto bello ma indirizzato ai fans più accaniti in quanto potrebbe anche essere noioso ascoltare la stessa canzone per 15 volte consecutive...

Io non ce l'ho... All'epoca dovetti scegliere cosa lasciare indietro e, siccome questo spettacolo ce l'avevo nel box della Fort Baxter, non comperai "Broken fingers".
A proposito: chi sa come si ruppe il dito Elvis ? Karate ?
