NOTE: libro di 168 pagine con gold CD audio, DVD e BluRay (questi ultimi due, dallo stesso contenuto), a cura della bravissima " Gravel Road".
Che dire ? Gran bel prodotto ma lo spettacolo di Boston ce l'abbiamo numerose volte... Il gold CD suona davvero meglio del CD della " FTD" ? No... Alle mie orecchie, no...
Nel DVD sono incluse riprese amatoriali del concerto in questione e di quel tour del mese di novembre 1971; questi filmati sono riportati anche nel BluRay e questo è grottesco poichè non esiste l'alta definizione in riprese amatoriali di 51 anni fa...
Si leggono commenti entusiastici sui gruppi di Facebook ma la sola cosa che ho trovato davvero interessante è il libro. Il CD, a mio parere, ha la stessa resa sonora del corrispettivo "FTD"; le immagini in DVD sono interessanti ma riproposte in BluRay rasentano l'assurdo per i motivi citato poc'anzi...

Nulla di nuovo poiché tutto era disponibile in altri bootlegs.
Una selezione abbastanza bizzarra poichè non brilla per l'audio e nemmeno per l'originalità della tracklist... Ci sono alcune rarità ma ascoltare una registrazione amatoriale di "Hound dog", "Jailhouse rock", "Teddy bear" e " Heartbreak hotel", solo per fare alcuni esempi di brani sfruttatissimi, la ritengo semplicemente una scelta assurda.

L'assurdo sta proprio nella selezione dei brani poiché ascoltare registrazioni amatoriali già disponibili di "Hound dog", "Love me", "Teddy bear/Don't be cruel" e "Love me tender", per fare alcuni esempi, a chi può interessare ? Un conto sarebbe la rirpoposta di un concerto o una selezione di tracce rare, ma qui siamo di fronte ad una compilazione fatta a casaccio...

La scatola di cartone di questo set di tre album è di colore nero con l'artwork stampato su un foglio bianco da 11 x 12 pollici.
Il design è tutt'altro che attraente: una foto a tinte blu dei Beatles pochi mesi prima del loro scioglimento nel 1970, occupa un terzo dello spazio, mentre il resto consiste nel titolo dell'album e nell'elenco dei contenuti di ogni lato di ciascun disco. Tuttavia, pubblicizzarlo come la Sensazione musicale dell'anno è una pura frode.
La copertina è pesante, semilucida, in fogli di inserto.
L'etichetta è bordeaux, stampa in argento, Kingston, Jamica W.I. in basso.
Matrice: 34o SR-A/B/C/D/E/F
Il vinile è nero.
Il primo lato si apre con un medley di canzoni rock and roll. Elvis è incluso con porzioni di " Love Me Tender", " Don't Be Cruel", " Hound Dog", " Jailhouse Rock" e " Are You Lonesome Tonight?".
Si tratta di un'emissione bizzarra e semplicemente stupida.
È la colonna sonora di uno spettacolo di diapositive dei Beatles, registrato su un economico registratore domestico.
Apparentemente non faceva parte dello show un'accozzaglia di interviste della BBC (per lo più con Kenny Everett) buttate sul lato sei per riempire il cofanetto.
A parte i brevi segmenti di cinque canzoni di Elvis, utilizzati come parte di un medley di Rock and Roll, non c'è altro materiale di Elvis nei restanti dischi di questo cofanetto. |

Il libro " Bootleg Elvis" afferma che la label produttrice sia la " Wizardo", con fittizio numero WRMB 505.
In una foto del cofanetto trovata su EBAY (era in vendita a quasi 500 dollari !) e su " Discogs", invece, non vi è traccia di queste informazioni.

Mentre " Stars on 45" conquistava il mondo con un medley dei Beatles cantato da artisti olandesi sconosciuti, " Disconet" aggiungendo una traccia di basso e una di batteria, creò un hit-mix di Elvis che dura nove minuti.
Successivamente, il proprietario di un famigerato negozio di dischi vicino alla stazione della metropolitana della 42a strada di Manhattan, copiò i medley dei Beatles e di Elvis da dischi illegali " Disconet Program Service" per rifornire i DJ dei locali. Tuttavia, non aveva intenzione di vendere questo articolo strettamente limitato nel suo negozio di dischi, perché lo riteneva troppo rischioso.
All'inizio degli anni '90, questo medley di Elvis fu incluso come bonus nel compact disc "Fire in Vegas". Tuttavia, la qualità del suono è purtroppo molto scarsa. |

PATCH IT UP - Expanded deluxe edition giugno 2022.
LABEL: MxF Records [nessun numero indicato].

NOTE: set di 3 CD (due dei quali CDr !!!) e un DVD-r, confezionato in un box della dimensione di un LP.
Le assurdità di questa label pirata nostrana continuano: una moltitudine di varianti (con CD-r e DVD-r allegati, ma ci rendiamo conto ???), con tantissimo fumo (inutili gadgets inseriti) e pochissimo arrosto (qualità audio pessima, per lo più).
Il DVD-r include filmati tratti da " That's the way it is" ma già disponibili in resa video perfetta nei DVD originali della MGM...
Il CD 1 era disponibile sempre in " Patch it up", dischetto pirata della stessa label, emesso nel 2006...
Il concerto sul CD-r 3 è stato tratto da un altro CD-r che circolava fra gli appassionati e la resa sonora è pessima (6/9/1970 DS, Las Vegas).
E, siccome siamo nel mondo dell'assurdo, è presente anche un'audio cassetta... Bentornati nella preistoria ! Essa include il DS di Las Vegas, 19/8/1970 che gli annunci dicono essere stata tratta direttamente dalla cassetta originale... Fatto sta che questo concerto è stato emesso su silver disc pirata numerose volte, in audio migliore... Una pagliacciata, insomma !
Per agiungere cavolate, il produttore ha emesso tutte queste varianti, per la gioia dei folli che collezionano tutto:
Digipack deluxe formato LP che comprende 3 CD+ 1 DVD. Tutte le copie sono sigillate e numerate a mano. Combinando i quattro digipack si può leggere sul dorso la scritta ELVIS PATCH IT UP.
Pannello FOREX formato LP (quattro varianti); fotocard su carta lucida pesante di 29x29 cm (quattro varianti) con certificato.
Box sigillato con grande adesivo lucido numerato a mano. (Due varianti).
Digipack super deluxe formato LP che comprende 3 CD+DVD. Il Digipack include anche una stampa artistica formato LP in carta avorio da 300 grammi. Esistono due varianti ogni copia sigillata. Audio cassetta con il DS del 19/8/1970 (due varianti); certificato in due varianti, poster in due varianti di 60x60 cm; guanti in cotone (!!!) con il logo " Elvis Patch it up". Maglietta a maniche corte personalizzata.
Penso che abbiamo raggiunto la soglia della follia fra i bootleggers !!!

NOTE: altra assurda emissione a "cura" della label italiana " VV Records" (che è sempre la " SR Records" e la " MxF Records").
Stavolta troviamo riproposto, in due versioni ( black & white edition e color edition) il loro vinile "Rock is back" che avevano pubblicato nel 2015.
Siamo di fronte ad un CD, un CD-r e a 1 DVD-r... Il che è sinonimo di pochissima qualità da parte della " VV" o come caspita vigliamo chiamarla... Ricordiamo che i CD-r e i DVD-r non hanno una durata pressoche eterna come i CD stampati " factory" o " silver disc" che dir si voglia... Occhio, quindi !
Il CD 1 ripropone, come già detto, il vinile " Rock is back" ed include lo spettacolo dei mezzanotte del 15 agosto 1969 a Las Vegas.
Il CD 2 (che è un CD-r) comprende una selezione di 18 tracce registrate fra il 21 ed il 26 agosto 1969, sempre a Las Vegas (tutte disponibili a livello ufficiale in resa sonora perfetta nel box europeo del 2019 " Elvis live 1969").
Il DVD-r include le sole immagini esistenti (14 minuti) di Las Vegas, agosto 1969. La resa è molto scarsa.
La cosiddetta " color edition" ha solo le covers colorate, come differenza.

Io ne ho qualcuno dei primi e sono davvero dilettanteschi... Ancora non avevano tutte queste cavolate allegate ad esso.
Li prendevo perché includevano un CD con uno spettacolo inedito ma che poi era di pessima resa sonora: il produttore "sbatteva" su CD una cassetta di quelle che noi "ammalati" collezionisti conosciamo bene fin dagli anni '80 (e forse anche da prima...), senza ulteriore sforzo.
Un'altra cosa che mi faceva irritare era che il vinile non andava conservato dentro al cartoncino del disco ma era semplicemente appoggiato all'interno di quella sorta di gatefold che era. Se non avevi una busta trasparente da inserire il tutto, ti poteva cadere..
